As we approach our nation’s 241st birthday. I want to share some interesting facts that you can use to impress your family and friends.
Did you know why we celebrate Independence Day on July 4th? Americans have always celebrated the special day on July 4th, simply because it was the date shown on the much-publicized Declaration of Independence.
Another interesting bit of trivia is that most historians think the Declaration was actually signed on August 2nd, 1776, nearly a month after its adoption and not on July 4th as is commonly believed. Can you imagine celebrating this epic part of our history on August 2? Happy 2nd of August just doesn’t have the right ring to it, does it?
Did you know that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, both of whom not only signed the Declaration of Independence but went on to serve as President of the United States, died on July 4th, 1826. Another Founding Father who became President, James Monroe, died on July 4, 1831, becoming the third President in a row to die on Independence Day.
Here are some other 4th of July activities you and your family might enjoy.
